HB circular A13/2013 has confirmed that in the Universal Credit pathfinder areas where a tenant has 2 months rent arrears, direct rent payments to landlords will be paid automatically on request of the landlord. And where arrears are under 2 months the DWP will contact the tenant to discuss their non-payment as part of the Personal Budgeting Support process - which includes considering direct payment to landlord.
